Amazon Web Service Introduces analytics

Amazon Web Service moves to analytics

Amazon’s Web Service is set to introduce its new analytics service that will help companies within the business intelligence market analyze their data more efficiently. This service nicknamed “Space-needle” would allow Amazon web service users, such as Nike Inc., Netflix Inc., and Airbnb Inc., to store more of their valuable big data with quicker and easier method (Wall Street Journal).

By offering new analytic tools with a variety of ways, the Amazon web service is making it easier for companies to access important business information that can be more relevant to the company’s decision making. This could be a huge innovation for Amazon in a variety of ways. Amazon’s push to offer more commodities to its cloud computing services will result in companies making better business decisions. Another reason why this new service could be crucial to Amazon’s growth, is because the Seattle based company has a solid chance to take charge of the business intelligence market, a market that has plenty of potential for newcomers, such as the online commerce giant.  This new technological advancement could also open up the market for new jobs. People who are well versed in managing big data sets as well as analytic information, also known as data scientist, are considered to be valuable assets in the business intelligence market and are often compensated very well for their knowledge and services (Wall Street Journal).

In conclusion, I feel the article could have mentioned more about what this service could do for an individual company. The article should have said more about the potential that this service has to significantly impact the efficiency and productivity of a company. I think that was a major point that should have been emphasized more within the article. The piece also could have mentioned more about what this means for Amazon as an online tech giant. I believe the influence on the market that Amazon could potentially have in the future may allow it to possibly grow into a company larger and more powerful than Google.

  1. Although the new cloud service is a great technological advancement for Amazon, it also has its downfalls. For example, there is high probability for fraud. The article below states that fraudsters are using Amazon's cloud to create fake web traffic.
In addition, I agree with your statement saying that the article should have mentioned more about what this could mean for Amazon and how it will impact their competitors. A blog that I read last week was on the new cloud service at Oracle. The article could have mentioned this in addition to other competitors of Amazon.
