Don’t you wish there was an easier way for you to
access your healthcare information?
There is a new technology that is being created at Dartmouth University,
so that people can see their healthcare information with less hassle. Also, this could benefit more than just
healthcare. This technology is called “Wanda”
because the device is shaped like a wand.
The wand can help transfer information from one device to another. For example, you take the wand out of a USB
port, point the wand at the device you want to transfer the information to and
the common Wi-Fi signal will allow the wand to transfer the data to the new
device.
This “Wanda” system can be very beneficial to people
because it can help them secure their healthcare information on a specific
Wi-Fi network. This would help prevent
hackers from stealing private health care information. It will give people a sense of security and
they won’t have to worry about getting their information stolen. Another positive aspect of the new technology
is that it is very easy to use. It could
be a hassle for people to use this technology if the size of this new device
was too big and bulky. However, the
wand-shaped device makes it easy to use.
Another point that I want to mention about this technology is that it is
very flexible in a way that it could be used for a bunch of different kinds of
information. This technology isn’t just
limited to healthcare. For example, say
there is a student who wants to transfer work done on his iPad to his laptop. If he wants to transfer his documents from
one device all he has to do is use the “Wanda” system and his campus’ Wi-Fi. There are many perks to this form of technology
in our society today.
Although,
it was mentioned in the article, I still feel like this bit of information was
overlooked in the article. “Most people
don’t know how to set up a secure system in their homes.” That really is the basis for this form of technology
being so effective. With a secure
network this can be very beneficial.
However, if a network is not as secure as it should be, critical
information could fall into the arms of the wrong people. It could also create problems for people to
regain access of personal healthcare information or any other kind. I find this technology to be very interesting
because it is very useful, but if it ends up in the wrong hands it could be
very harmful. If some of the wrinkles
could be ironed out, I feel like this “Wanda” system will help people access
healthcare and other information more easily in this developing technological
age.

HI Matt,
ReplyDeleteI found the article you chose to be very interesting. Getting information about ones healthcare can be frustrating and time consuming when you have to get in contact with the help line. This new device "Wanda" will make it that much easier to obtain information. It will help secure important information from outsiders and help prevent that information from getting into the wrong hands. I also found it very interesting that the "Wanda" system can be used for other reasons. It will allow individuals to transfers documents from one device to the other fast and effectively. It reminds me of a disc drive but with out having to worry about memory, space and having to outsource it. I agree with matt about how if people do not know how to properly use it, it can be dangerous. Therefore, it is important for people to be educated and understand how to you use it.
Hi Matt,
ReplyDeleteThe article about the new device "Wanda" is very interesting and also is potentially the next generation in medical information documentation. I think that "Wanda" is going to make obtaining, researching, and implementing data in the medical field substantially faster and more efficiently than ever before. This can lead to new advances in medicine and additionally, more personalized healthcare for patients. But, there is a major concern for this type of product, and that is the security aspect. This form of technology is susceptible to hacking/tampering; and this is a major concern for the medical field. Furthermore, the technology would also require a lot of usable data. In conclusion, I agree with Matt's statement about the importance of proper use of the technology. The appropriate training of operators of this new technology and the implementation of software that protects the technology from hacking are crucial for this product to survive and prosper in the medical field.
